Peter Godfrey

Peter Godfrey is the chief representative of the prestigious UK Energy Institute (EI) in Singapore. In addition to his work with the EI, Peter provides executive advisory services to institutional investors, fund managers and family offices to both source new investment opportunities and manage existing ones through his own company Merlenergy Pte ltd.

Most of Peter's career has been spent in the Oil and Gas industry. In Singapore, Peter was Head of Oil & Gas in Standard Chartered Bank's principal finance team and prior to that, he was a member of Arrow Energy's executive leadership team responsible for building Arrow's international CBM (coal bed methane) business, based on the company's successful development of CBM reserves in Queensland, Australia.

Peter's early oil and gas career was with BP, mainly upstream, ending up as Indonesia country head. After leaving BP, Peter has gained an international reputation as a leading independent energy strategy and business development consultant with an executive-level international client-base that has included the world's leading national and international energy and mineral resource companies as well as a number of governments and regulatory agencies.

In addition to his work in the energy sector, Peter is also passionate about the Performing Arts and sits on a number of boards and advisory committees in Singapore and elsewhere.

Dr Philip Andrews-Speed is a Senior Principal Fellow at the Energy Studies Institute, National University of Singapore. He has nearly 40 years in the field of energy and resources, starting his career as a mineral and oil exploration geologist before moving into the field of energy and resource governance. Until 2010, he was Professor of Energy Policy at the University of Dundee and Director of the Centre of Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy. His main research interest has been the political economy of the low-carbon energy transition. China has been a particular focus for his research, but in recent years he has been more deeply engaged with energy challenges in Southeast Asia. His latest book China as a Global Clean Energy Champion: Lifting the Veil appeared early in 2019.

Mohd Saleem

Mohd Saleem is Head of South Asia, International Development for Bursa Malaysia Derivatives (BMD). He is based in Kuala Lumpur and is responsible for leading BMD’s efforts to develop products and services to meet the needs of its customer base in the region. He recently joined BMD in July 2019.

Saleem was previously the Director and Head of Futures for HSBC in Singapore. He has held several key roles within Futures in HSBC over his 25 years of service with them.

Bill is the Head of Asia-Pacific at FIA and has been with the association since March 2012.

He has over 25 years of experience in the listed derivatives industry.  Prior to joining FIA, Bill was the Regional Head of Operations, Asia Pacific for the ICAP plc group.  Earlier in his career, he served in front, middle and back office management positions at various trading firms and software vendors including Trading Technologies, SunGard Futures Systems and BNP Securities (USA) Inc.  Bill has extensive experience in the futures and options business and has been a key participant in the development of processes and systems for the electronic trading and clearing of exchange traded derivatives.  He has resided in Singapore since 2007.  He received an M.B.A. in Finance and Economics from University of Rochester.

John Driscoll’s career spans nearly 4 decades with senior management posts in supply, trading, energy publishing and consulting. After graduating from Stanford in 1976, John joined ARCO in Los Angeles as a product operator. He moved to Singapore in 1985 with Maxus, a US-based Indonesian crude producer.  He opened Singapore trading offices for UK oil company Ultramar and US refiner Tosco. He joined Mobil Asia in 1997 as Team Leader, Fuel Oil until the Exxon merger. John ran Argus Media in Asia for 5 years before returning to trading in 2004 as Senior Manager for GS Caltex Singapore, handling product trading, risk management and, market analysis. A naturalised Singaporean, John setup JTD Energy Services in 2013. He lectures at Singapore Management University and the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology on Oil Trading, Pricing and Risk Management. He is a regular speaker in local broadcast media.

Jennifer Ilkiw is responsible for Asia Pacific Sales for Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) and also co-heads ICE Futures Singapore and ICE Clear Singapore; ICE’s Asia based exchange and clearing house which launched in 2015. ICE operates the world’s leading network of regulated exchanges and clearing houses, including the New York Stock Exchange. ICE’s futures exchanges and clearing houses serve global commodity and financial markets, providing risk management and capital efficiency to industry participants.

Prior to joining ICE in August 2007 to establish ICE’s Singapore office serving customers across the Asia Pacific region, Ms. Ilkiw also held roles at the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) and the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).  At NYMEX, Ms. Ilkiw opened and managed their Asia Pacific office and at MAS, she helped to develop Singapore as a commodity derivatives trading centre in her role as Assistant Director.

Ms Ilkiw is an active representative of Singapore’s financial community. She earned a bachelors degree in economics from Queens’ University in Canada and a masters of business administration from the University of Toronto in Canada. Ms. Ilkiw also contributed to a textbook, International Business: An Asia Pacific Perspective, by Andrew Delios, published in 2004

Yvonne brings in more than a decade worth of trading and product structuring experience in the commodities industry, leading the development of new benchmarks and markets for Chicago Mercantile Exchange Group, Morgan Stanley, Societe Generale and ANZ Banking Group. As an early adopter of blockchain and innovative payment technologies, she leads the technical committees contributing to the International Standards Organization ISO/TC 307 (Blockchain and distributed ledger technologies) and ISO200022 (Universal financial industry message scheme) working groups.
Knowledge sharing and serving the community at large is an important part of Yvonne’s life, she is a teaching fellow at Singapore University of Social Sciences and speaks at professional conferences on sustainability, fintech, trading and social impact. Prior to entering the commodities world, she worked in the legal industry and was a board member at the non-profit Redfern Legal Centre in Australia.
Yvonne holds a BCom/LLB (Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws) from the University of Sydney.

He was also director of data science in a China Fintech start-up with 5 million users doing AI and NLP on the China equity indices and selling the data to global hedge funds. His educational qualifications include MS Financial Engineering from Columbia University and a Phd in Finance from Edhec (2019/20 expected). He mixes practice financial experience with AI expertise.

Arthur Fan is the Managing Director and Global Head of Commodities at Bank of China International (BOCI), the wholly-owned investment banking arm of Bank of China. He helped the company to become the first Chinese investment bank successfully established commodities platform to provide clients with full spectrum of comprehensive risk management and financing solutions.  Under his leadership, BOCI independently launched a suite of commodities indices, including BOCI China Commodities Index which was the first China-focused commodity index launched by an offshore Chinese investment bank. Mr Fan held various positions with BOCI before his current role.  He holds an MBA degree from the University of Oxford.
